The Salt Cellar was built in 1970 on a trac of unincorporated land in Maricopa County as a very unique underground restaurant; this was prior to annexation by the City of Scottsdale. Unfortunately, due to the type of construction and the way the building is situated with regard to current City right of ways, it is unfeasible for an elevator to be added.

Although we do not offer take-out food to the general public, we do offer this provision to those with physical disabilities that make it difficult or impossible to gain access to the restaurant.  With advance reservations, we can prepare take-out food and curb-side pick-up.  To make these advance reservations, call any evening after 5:00PM and ask for a Manager.
