Alaskan Halibut

Alaskan Halibut and their Cheeks!

Alaskan Halibut has arrived at the Salt Cellar and is being served broiled over Mesquite charcoal and topped with gourmet butter or charcoal broiled and served with lemon caper butter or blackened Cajun style.

We are also excited to announce that the Alaskan Halibut “Cheeks” are also now on our menu. Considered by many to be the most prized part of the  halibut, the texture of this meat is similar to that of crab and slightly sweeter than the halibut filets.  These cheeks are hand cut, put on ice, and immediately shipped.  Many of the Salt Cellar diners will be excited that these gems have arrived!

The wait is over!

The Nantucket Cape Scallop season is open and we now have these amazing seasonal scallops on our menu. We serve them as an appetizer or as an entrée! Knowing that fishing for cape scallops can be restrictive, we will keep you updated but also encourage you to give us a call for the status.

Our supply of fresh Alaskan Halibut will most likely be depleted by the end of this week, the week of November 6th. We will then be serving fresh Atlantic Halibut, coming to us from Nova Scotia, sourced from the cold, nutrient-rich waters of the Gulf of Maine. This great fish has a firm white meat with a delicate and slightly sweet flavor.

On Thanksgiving Day, we will be opening our Dining Room at 4PM, with the Bar opening at 3PM. Be sure to make a reservation and treat yourself and your family to a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner, choosing from the Salt Cellar’s wide array of fresh seafood.

Nantucket Cape Scallops

The NANTUCKET CAPE SCALLOP season opens on November 1st.  Many of you have been looking forward to enjoying these very seasonal scallops. These scallops come from the nutrient rich, pure and pristine waters off Nantucket Island; they are unsurpassed in their characteristic delicate and sugar-sweet flavor.  We anticipate having them on our menu, both as an appetizer and an entrée, by the week of November 6th.  Be among the first in the Valley to savor these amazing Nantucket Cape Scallops. Watch for our emails and Facebook posts.

As the Alaskan Halibut season begins to wean (closing mid-November),  the wonderful Alaskan Halibut Cheeks have become harder to source and we anticipate them being depleted by next week.

Grilled Atlantic Swordfish Chop

We are excited to, once again, showcase the Grilled Atlantic Swordfish Chop on our menu.  This unique menu item looks a lot like a pork or veal chop.  It even cooks like a chop, long and slow on the grill, making it tender and juicy.  However, that is where the resemblance ends; this chop is not cut from the rib or loin as in four-legged animals but rather up front, just behind the fish’s collarbone.

The Maryland Soft Shell Crab are now being featured on the Salt Cellar menu!  These wonderful Chesapeake Bay Soft Shell Crabs are available either as an appetizer or an entree.  We prepare them in the traditional way; dusted with rice flour, flash fried, and topped with roasted almonds.

The Alaskan Halibut Cheek season is well underway now and our source has been able to keep us well supplied.

Bar Food – we have a large selection of appetizers available at our Bar daily from 4:00PM to 12:00AM.  In addition to our famous Oyster Bar Menu, we also offer our “Specialty Appetizers”.
